About Camp Oakley

Camp Oakley, a subsidiary of the Joseph & Kathleen Sorenson Legacy Foundation, provides inclusive outdoor experiences for all, regardless of ability. Located in Oakley, Utah, at the base of Weber Canyon, our nonprofit camping facility offers four heated yurts, horse-friendly campsites, and extensive groomed trails for year-round adventures, from summer fishing and outdoor activities to winter sledding and cross-country skiing. Groups like the National Ability Center, Bridge Camp, and church youth groups return annually to enjoy our accessible, nature-focused retreat.

Fully ADA-compliant, Camp Oakley ensures everyone can enjoy the outdoors. With an all-terrain wheelchair, accessible trails, and heated yurts, we make mountain adventures possible for individuals and families of all abilities. Last year, we welcomed over 200 families and groups to create lasting memories in nature.

We are dedicated to making the beauty of the outdoors accessible to everyone, fostering connection and adventure for all.

Family Friendly Luxury Camping

For those who realize sometimes five-star accommodations aren’t enough, we offer 5-billion beautiful stars in the Weber Canyon and Kamas Valley. There is nothing quite like the feeling of stepping inside one of our yurts. Each yurt has been selected from the finest quality materials available and is constructed on a heated concrete floor. Both the yurt and the walkways outside are accessible year-round and include a working kitchen and a full ADA bathroom. Each yurt sleeps up to eight adults.

In addition to the year-round yurt “glamping” facilities, there are additional campsites within the 600-acre property and ADA-compliant bathhouses for our guests, which include showers and restroom facilities. The total Camp Oakley Capacity is 330-day patrons and 248 overnight.

Therapeutic Recreation

At the heart of Camp Oakley is a fundamental belief that everyone has a right to be able to enjoy nature, no matter their level of mobility. We have created programs and an environment that encourages access to the wilderness. Needed river restoration to the Weber River was engineered with the outdoor and naturalist in mind. With the natural areas of the river restored, we have returned natural habitats for wildlife. We created an extensive groomed trail system that protects the natural habitats and makes the river accessible to every varying level of mobility or wheelchair. These improved areas make it possible for all people to enjoy the beauty of the river and surrounding wilderness. All of the Yurts are built with wheelchair access in mind and are connected with a series of switchback trails.
